After a four-year hiatus from the entertainment industry, Lizzy, a former member of the girl groups After School and Orange Caramel, finally spoke out about the drunk driving (DUI) case that rocked her career.
In a video titled "Lizzy's Sincerity After 4 Years," uploaded to Jeong The Woman Jeong Ah's YouTube channel on August 1, Lizzy openly expressed her feelings and regrets.
She stated that this was her first time appearing on camera since 2021.
In the video, Lizzy immediately stated that the incident was entirely her fault and that there was no excuse for it.
She expressed deep regret for disappointing those who love her, including the accident victim, her colleagues, and her fans.
"It was something that shouldn't have happened, and I'm truly sorry for disappointing so many people," she said, bowing her head.
Lizzy also shared how she felt scared and devastated after the drastic loss of public support.
Once known as a cheerful and positive figure on variety shows and music stages, the drastic change in her public image left her shocked and lonely.
"I used to be loved as the cheerful Lizzy, but after that incident, everyone distanced themselves. It was very scary for me," she said.
Furthermore, Lizzy admitted that the fear of loss actually made her even more trapped in mistakes.
She even regretted being overconfident and not realizing how much blessing she had received in life.
"I lived without thinking. Despite trying hard, I accepted more than I deserved, and I forgot to be humble," she said, holding back tears.
Since the accident in May 2021, Lizzy has been undergoing a period of reflection and has not engaged in official activities as a singer or actress.
Although she signed a contract with a new agency in 2022, she has not fully returned to the entertainment industry.
