Jun Ji Hyun Reveals the Secret to Overcoming Shaky Confidence (Harper's Bazaar Korea)
Known for always appearing confident, Jun Ji Hyun doesn't always feel that way. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she often experiences moments when her confidence wavers and shared how she overcomes them.
After approximately four years since her last role in the drama Jirisan (2021), the actress, also known as Gianna Jun, will soon return to the small screen in the Disney+ original series, Tempest.
The drama follows Moon Joo (Jun Ji Hyun), a diplomat and former UN ambassador, and San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a mysterious, stateless secret agent. They both work together to uncover the truth behind a major case.
The series, originally titled Polar Star (북극성), is written by Jung Seo Kyung, the writer of the film "Decision to Leave" (2022) and the drama "Little Women" (2022), and directed by Kim Hee Won (Queen of Tears, 2024; Vincenzo, 2021) and Heo Myung Haeng ("The Roundup: Punishment," 2024).
In addition to Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won in the lead roles, the drama also stars John Cho, Park Hae Joon, Kim Hae Sook, Yoo Jae Myung, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Hee, Joo Jong Hyuk, and Won Ji An.
Ahead of her comeback, Jun Ji Hyun greeted fans in a video interview with Harper's Bazaar Korea.
Jun Ji Hyun's Recent Hobbies
As quoted by Kpop Chart from Newsis, on August 7, 2025, a video titled "Is Jun Ji Hyun's Unchanging Beauty Now in Its Golden Age?" was released on the Harper's Bazaar Korea YouTube channel.
The approximately three-minute video begins with Jun Ji Hyun revealing what she's been interested in lately.
"When I have free time, I try to stimulate myself by watching various works as references," she said.
She also revealed that she regularly maintains her physical condition through regular exercise.
Jun Ji Hyun: Confidence Isn't a Fixed Thing
This episode also discussed the topic of self-confidence, which she believes is the "True Form of Beauty."
When asked if she had ever experienced moments when her confidence wavered, Jun Ji Hyun gave an honest answer.
"Although on the outside I always appear confident, of course there are times when I feel my confidence wavers," she replied.
The woman, born on October 30, 1981, then revealed what she usually does when she experiences such moments.
"I always try to remember that self-confidence isn't something that's fixed, but rather grows and changes as life goes on. In the process of self-care and restoring my inner strength, I was finally able to rediscover my balance," she said.
Meanwhile, Jun Ji Hyun's new drama, "Tempest," is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on September 10, 2025.
