The Billboard journalist who was criticized for reporting on BLACKPINK's Jennie has finally spoken out!
The journalist, identified as Leela Rosa, also known as Leah La Rosa, was criticized after allegedly insulting BLACKPINK's Jennie in a report she wrote.
The insult was related to the idol's behavior during BLACKPINK's DEADLINE concert some time ago.
Following the criticism, the journalist finally spoke out in a 2-minute, 37-second clarification video on her Instagram account.
"I woke up this morning and suddenly received thousands of messages saying 'apologize to Jennie.' My only thought was, who is Jennie? I'm not a K-pop fan."
Leela also admitted that she was only trying to understand the discourse about Jennie, unaware of the sensitive topic, and insisted she was simply doing her job as a journalist.
Although seemingly harmless, the journalist's comments were considered sensitive among BLACKPINK fans (BLINKs).
Furthermore, the journalist made no apology and emphasized that her questions stemmed from curiosity.
"Asking questions is part of my job. I didn't mean to offend anyone," she further explained.
