Park Jung Min will play the lead role in the film "The Ugly," which will be released this September.
Directed by Yeon Sang Ho, the film follows the story of Im Dong Hwan (Park Jung Min), the son of a skilled seal craftsman named Im Young Gyu (Kwon Hae Hyo), who investigates the mysterious death of his mother, whose body has been buried in secret for the past 40 years.
Uniquely, Park Jung Min will play dual roles as the young Im Dong Hwan and Im Young Gyu.
Im Young Gyu's character is depicted as a husband who has never seen his wife's face due to blindness, while Im Dong Hwan is a son searching for his mother, whom he has not seen since birth.

The idea for this dual role came from Park Jung Min himself.
The actor shared, "If the film is made with good intentions and meaning, I want to contribute in my own way."
The 1987-born actor then asked Director Yeon about who would play the young Im Young Gyu.
"The director said the role of young Im Young Gyu hadn't been decided yet, so I said I wanted to challenge myself by taking on a dual role," he explained.
To portray the young Im Young Gyu, the actor wore a wig and learned to master the art of seal carving.
